Of course they still reign (if they didn't then they wouldn't be the Royal family), but they don't really have much say in the running of the country or anything. As I said earlier they are basically just a tourist trap now. They bring in quite a bit of money to the country... I believe it is more than they are paid through taxes etc, so ultimately they are a profitable venture, and without them the money would go to the government, who aren't exactly great at solving problems without massive overhead. Having said that though I'm sure the Royals could function just as well on much less income.
