You guys have no idea what you're talking about when it comes about music in the 90's.
Sure, most of the great artists of the 80's composed a lot of crap during the 90's, but the underground scene, where there still are real, innovative musicians and songs, from extreme metal to electronic music to folk and shoegazing, developed considerably during the 90's.
Also there was grunge on it's first half, and the good years of nu metal later in the decade, for the more mainstream stuff.
