They are claiming sony is playing catch up to something no one knows about lol.

MS has done alot of work in cloud service. The claims that sony is playing catch up is true. MS has various patents for cloud services and already sells said cloud services to other companies and governments. Sony has not.
|
Again I don't get what you guys are going on about.
Patents? Really? You do realize ALL companies have a huge amount of patents right? Have you gone through sony patents to confirm they do not? I assure you they will as well
Sony have brought cloud to gaming as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but they were the first to bring it to consoles. They already use it in their other services and devices. But by definition to 'catch up' there should be something material to catch up to. MS has shown nothing comparable to Gaikai. Sony now have Gaikai's tech and all their assets with this investment. Fact of the matter is you and sales both are using things that have yet to be shown as justification for this statement, which is nonsesense.
|
Fact of the matter is your willingly being blind to corporate politics. MS has cloud infrastructure and they dont have to reveal its extent if they dont want to.
MS said so they are investing in Cloud, news now is saying Sony is playing catchup......your just spinning and seeing things how you want them. So am I but I have these news statements to back me up.
|
lol fact of the matter is you have nothing to talk about other than PR. I'm sure MS have that but it has yet to be shown in the gaming department to claim 'catch up' for sony. Sony have been investing in cloud based services too. It's not a spin. I'm just talking about things we know for certain. You on the other hand talk about things even you yourself can't confirm. You have PR to back you up not 'news' statements. Might as well not have any back up at all.
@criss: I'm not gonna read that cuz if I do, this is not gonna end. You will see what you want to see I guess. Not gonna bother with you any longer.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=145085&page=1#8 MS says Cloud has been their agenda for years.
http://arstechnica.com/business/2011/10/windows-azure-faster-than-amazon-ec2-and-google-app-engine-in-yearlong-cloud-speed-test/ The writing in the link says it all.
The news here from UKIE Chairman.....who knows more about this stuff then you and me, says Sony is playing catchup.
We have no concrete details, but you assume MS has nothing because they told us nothing.....and that is ignorance at its finest. Sony spent 380 million to play catchup and I find it funny you just cant deal.
But to put it as simple as possible. UKIE Chairman opinion > yours.

@bold: absolutely not true. I'm sure they have something in the works as they have worked on the subject matter in the past. I'm saying since they haven't shown anything in the gaming space yet, at least anything to rival Gaikai, saying sony is playing catch up is just silly.
I find that you still keep missing the point and have nothing to back up your claim. Also you do realize that price tag is deemed a great deal by financial analysts yes? I'm sure you are smart enough to understand such an amount is the price tag for MS as well no matter if they build it themselves or buy it elsewhere. As someone pointed out to you earlier, companies buy others all the time because it helps them expand at a 'cheaper' price than if they had to do it themselves. Unless you have anything to refute any of these statements, it's just pure speculation.
I already pointed out why it's wrong to say implentations of a tech in a different industry is useless to this comparison as the companies differ. MS have yet to show us anything comparable to Gaikai. Common sense > speculation and dreams
@Criss: another rant 0_o I hope you realize I stopped reading them (when I said I stopped lol)
@sales and brofist: thanks for the link on Azure. I am reading it now. However one thing tho...aren't the guys who did this test announce something with MS a while back? Or was it google :S The name rings a bell
