Patents? Really? You do realize ALL companies have a huge amount of patents right? Have you gone through sony patents to confirm they do not? I assure you they will as well Sony have brought cloud to gaming as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but they were the first to bring it to consoles. They already use it in their other services and devices. But by definition to 'catch up' there should be something material to catch up to. MS has shown nothing comparable to Gaikai. Sony now have Gaikai's tech and all their assets with this investment. Fact of the matter is you and sales both are using things that have yet to be shown as justification for this statement, which is nonsesense. |
Did you go to the link i posted. MS has sold their cloud services to other companies, to regualr consumers, and to governments. Until sony can offer their clouds services in that way they are playing catch up. They bought Gaikai to cath up, you just mentioned it as a way they are ahead of ms, had they not bought Gaikai they could not have used it to catch up like they did. Hence them using Gaikai to catch up. I agree MS does not offer streaming of games, but neither does sony, gaikai offers streaming of demos. MS has infrastructure for cloud services and currently sell cloud services. Does sony do that? did they do that before they bought gaikai? Cathcing up for sony is not in the console space but in cloud computing in general. I am not trying to knock sony here, it appears they may the first to bring streaming games to consoles, but that doesn't mean they dont have a lot to do to cathc up to ms as far as cloud services go.
