Split screen is also one of the first things I look for, there were times when people met at my house for a few drinks before heading out somewhere and we never got any further than GC Mario Kart.
It does seem a little off that with the whole casual gaming thing that Nintendo are bringing to the table and larger, clearer tv's with bigger screens that other devs wouldn't see the pull in split screen action.
