| richardhutnik said: Apparently, in the story I mention from 2 Kings, God's judgement on the youth were that they get mauled my female bears. It wasn't the prophet that order it. The prophet just cursed the youth for their attitude, and the consequence was death by bear. What you do here, as an anti-theist is go and argue, "See, see... God is really really sick for doing this? How can you consider a loving God do this?" It is a class argument. You want me to bring the skeptic's annotated Bible in here, that web page, and show it? Someone else also made mention of it also in another thread on here, before the incident on the bus broke into the news. And your language and thoughts are of made made thought here, and current constructs used to hold society together, that are a nice fiction used to make sure things don't fall apart. It frames what I said in a context that isn't what I believe, and then determines it is wrong, and absurd. And you also supposedly place my thinking in the context of "Oh that is a usual American" which would really be pushing it. And then you come up with, somehow, what Hitler did is on part, or superior to someone believe people who lack mercy and compassion would be suitable candidates for getting mauled to death by bears. Add to this your selective tapdancing through the Christian religion, speaking about your understanding, which may or may not be correct, which fully had something to do with your becoming anti-Theist. This is fully apparent when you said something about death by bear as a response to something that was done, ends up somehow being a shortcut to hell, as if where one goes after they die/final judgement/etc... is the single most important thing one is to concern themselves with. In this, the death by bears here, done by God, was obviously a sign of something. You can play the hypothetical game of greater good and so on, and for all you know, the kids getting mauled by bears may of done greater good than evil. You do not know that. The Bible has other places to of people dropping dead, like a couple dying from lying about how much they actually gave to help those in need, after saying they would give it all. And if your sake of heritage and what you pass on is more important than personal decisions, then that can be argued even a stronger argument for mauling youths to death. It is an argument that you take them out of the gene pool before they have a chance to breed. After they had kids, you end up sentencing the child who was born to a life without parents, before they did anything. Of course, the simple answer out of this is people stop being mean, and show some mercy and compassion, then there isn't any need to discuss who should or should not get mauled by beards and somehow go into Godwin's Law by bring up Hitler and trying to argue that what Hitler did isn't as bad, or as bad, as not being opposed to some individuals without mercy and compassion getting mauled to death by some bears. But if you want to believe what I said is on par with the second, you are free to do this. Doesn't mean it is right, but you may want to ask yourself if you are actually serious for thinking it. |
I'm just gonna put this out there if you want to know my actual reasoning (assuming you haven't already read it): http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=144832&page=1
And by the way, people like you are the reason I became "anti-Theist", as you call it. I don't mind people who use their faith to make themselves and everyone around them feel better. I mind people who use their faith to justify and spread bullshit such as opposing gay marriage, opposing adoptions by homosexuals and the entire topic of this thread. You people who think you have the right to take away the freedom of others makes me sick.
