The PS3 lineup this year was 'meh' at best. Twisted Metal and Starhawk bombed big time, selling less than 700k combined worldwide (!!!) and with PSABR and LBP Karting there are only 2 exclusives worth mentioning coming this holiday season. A lot of people loved Journey though. |
What on earth does sales have to do with whether the lineup was good or bad? I really don't understand the reasoning of "It's only a good year for exclusives if they're multi-million sellers". Does that mean we're only going to have a good year if we get Uncharted, Gran Turismo and God of War all in one year?!
They released those 2 games (Starhawk and Twisted Metal), regardless of whether they sold well or not. We're consumers, not accountants. We play for the games, not to worry about whether game x or game y sold more than z amount of copies. The only thing that would change is a future year's lineups (maybe they won't release a sequel to Starhawk, for example) but we don't have to worry about that until the time comes. We're talking about what the lineup for this year was like.
It would be like saying the lineup for 360 was good last year because Gears of War 3 & Forza 4 sold well. Yes, they did, but propping up a whole console year with 2 releases does not make it a 'good' lineup for the players!
Also, I'd list MLB 12 (debatable) and Tales of Graces F as good exclusives we've had this year, and I'd add in Dust 514 and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time to our list of exclusives coming up. And the Jak & Daxter Collection, Ratchet & Clank Collection and Ratchet: Q Force.
