Me, my brother, some of his friends, 2 of my housemates all own Black ops (yes we are sheep) but not one of us bought the rip off DLC or map packs.

These figures are probably right because it's based on people not individual sales/downloads. I only download free demos and free DLC, I never pay for any DLC. Last game I bought was Wipeout HD when that first came out and it's expansion when that came out, that was over 2 years ago.

So ...

anecdotal evidence > Logic.

Cool story bro!

Logic based on presumed numbers is not fact, just a theoretical calculation. I can do it too.

250 million sales, and 14% of the Black ops sold was in the UK alone. But because me and all my mate didn't buy the DLC, we can assume that this is the common pattern that people don't by the DLC. Let's be optomistic and say 25% do. 25% of 14% is 3.5%. 250 million by 3.5% is only 8.75 million by the $15 you mentioned is only 580 thousand downloads.

These figures aer probably direct from Sony and MS just interpreted by another company.

.... is that a joke? No you can't assume that. You are once again using anecdotal evidence. It is a fair assumption that given the high sales of black ops in the UK that a similar percentage of DLC sales would be in the UK. Use some common sense for goodness sake.

Also what do you mean downloads don't mean people? Who are these people who are buying the same dlc twice? How are they even managing it? Stores will block a second purchase and just allow you to re-download.

Oh p.s. even with your laughable made up figures it still disproves the study. They said 1million people bought digital games and 500k bought DLC. Well for CoD you are talking about DLC and your made up figures came out at over 500k.

You assumed that because Black ops UK sales make up 14% of all black ops sales, that it also means that UK makes up 14% of the $250million worth of DLC sales. It doesn't. You can't assume that. Everything other than the article is based on assuption, only the original data is correct.

I mentioned Downloads are not people as, not your's, but some people's posts seem to treat it like it was downloads.

The article said 'while a further 500k bought DLC', that to me was a million plus 500k. so 1.5. That said by 25% estimation was high for argument sake, I doubt DLC download percentage for Black Ops is even 5% of the UK market.

My assumption isn't that it makes up exactly 14% but that the ratio would be in the same region. Seriously where the hell is your logic that the UK is some sort of abnormality where people don't buy DLC coming from? Oh yea 14% of black ops sales were in the Uk, but dlc? No british people hate dlc, like 0.5% of the dlc was sold there. Americans though? Damn they love that dlc, they guzzle it down!

I don't think you understand the point. You have taken the revenue for DLC which is already a percentage of the original people who bought it and then made a further percentage of that percentage. 14% of BLOPS DLC sales being in the uk would not equal all BLOPS owners in Britain having bought it. Assuming the 25% you have taken of BLOPS owners in the Uk buying the DLC it is very likely that actually total dlc sales for the Uk would be higher than 14% of the total.

Not only this but your entire argument is based on a sample size of you and your mates..... Well so if I tell you that all of my friends did buy the dlc that immediately ruins your sample size. If two people told you that well it would mean your results would be the complete opposite!

Yes it is 1.5million.... 1 million being games and .5million being dlc. Making a total of 1.5million. Not 1million + 0.5 million = 2.5million. Seriously what is wrong with people where they don't understand the use of the word further? DirtyP's post summed it up fantastically. Further does not mean original + the further on top of original. ''Today it was revealed MS has been fined 100million for anti-competitive policies and a further 50million for price fixing....for a grand total of 250million!111!!!''

These figures are nonsense. Your entire argument relies on the fact that for ONE game, and that even though it would mean the UK is some region where people detest DLC, the figures could possibly work. It is beyond flimsy. Only 500k of people buying DLC across PS3 and 360 is a joke. Think of all the music games, all the shooters, rpgs etc all the different genres that have dlc and how hugely successful some of it (like COD's has been).

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
