The PS3 design philosophy and general strategic mentality. The Vita shows that they're still thinking that way, though Vita was certainly launched smarter than the PS3

Sort of. It's about the strategy you pursue with the hardware you offer, as i don't doubt Microsoft's nextbox will be roughly as strong as Sony's machine, but Microsoft is going to put Kinect 2.0 out there face-forward, whereas Sony is going to pitch Orbis in a similar manner as they have with Vita, or so i believe. The point i was trying to make is that with Microsoft being less "Xbox360-ish" it's not going to devolve into a simple "us versus them, hardcore versus casual" mentality, because Microsoft largely will keep things more complex. Nintendo too, to a lesser extent, as i'm sure they're going to make more extensive efforts to make sure they at least stay in the multiplat loop going forward.

well we'll see, although i think its a little too early to make statements like that
