Hey guys. So I've been having a really interesting discussion with S.T.A.G.E. in the "Nintendo seems to not be able to please its fans" thread. It came to the topic of what makes gamers in the general gamer crowd uninterested in Nintendo's platform.

My question for you guys is as follows. Which of the following criteria are required for your to purchase a Nintendo console?

  1. All of Nintendo usual IPs like Mario, Zelda, Starfox and Metroid should be made with older gamers in mind.
  2. 3D Mario, 3D Zelda and 3D Metroid need to be marketed to older gamers.
  3. No more kiddie games need to come out on the system: 2D kirby, 2D Mario
  4. No more quirky IPs need to release on the platform: example Pikmin
  5. All top 3rd party multiplats need to be on the system.
  6. Needs to have 3rd party exclusives that rival assassin's creed and Batman
  7. Shouldn't release with non-proven games like Red Steel and ZombiU, which use non-traditional game mechanics
  8. Needs new Nintendo IPs that appeal to the older crowd, preferably but not limited to FPS.
  9. Needs Nintendo-made jRPGs that can rival Tales or Final Fantasy games.
  10. Needs Nintendo-made WRPGs that can rival the likes of Skyrim
  11. Needs exclusive j and W RPGs made by 3rd parties that rival Skyrim and FF.
  12. Needs a traditional controller
  13. Does not have any shovelware
  14. Has no Nintendo-made games that use waggle controls or "gimmicks", or that appeal to a younger crowd.

I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts. And Nintendo fans, please let them express themselves without taking insult, this thread is about their honest opinions, something fans and Nintendo as a company should have been aware of a long time ago.

Thanks for sharing

I've highlighted the important ones in bold. The most important of all is exclusives - both first and third party. Exclusives sell consoles at the end of the day, although for PS3 and 360 owners I'd say that third party exclusives would influence that crowd more.

Both WRPGs and JRPGs are going to be a much better experience on the U thanks to the touchscreen, FIFA, Madden and Tiger Woods will all benefit from the GamePad and ZombiU is going to be a system seller that will appeal to the PS3 and 360 crowd. I've seen a few people on various forums saying that they're considering to only own one console this gen, and split their gaming between the U and their PC. Certainly going to be interesting to see how well the U will sell, particularly when you consider that the U will more than likely be around £100 or more cheaper than a PS4 and 720.
