Hardware parity and 3rd party software parity.

In other words: make a Nintendo "triplet."

In practice though, I buy their hardware anyway for the same reason most people buy Nintendo hardware: to play Nintendo games.

The Wii just made me realize that since Sony became my default platform dating back to the PS1, my interest in Nintendo franchises has continually drifted considering the only two remaining franchises I really look forward to playing are Metroid and Zelda. Considering that the last Zelda game I marathoned was Ocarina of Time and the last Metroid game I actually finished was Super Metroid, I do find myself asking why I'm still buying the games.

Nintendo really hasn't been the go-to platform for third party games in my personal experience since the SNES.
