Warning: rant following!
One good day, I downloaded the Motorstorm (PS3) demo. I didn't expect much, but it turned out to be lots of fun. So I thought, "you know what? I'm gona buy this game. It'd be awesome playing this game with my girl, what with all the over-the-top action and all".
I was WRONG. The game didn't have multiplayer. It features online, but c'mon, online is no substitute for splitscreen (real) multiplayer!
Fast forward to today. I was thinking about buying BurnOut for PS3, you know, to play multiplayer, what with all the over-the-top action and all.
...
So I checked out the internet, and saw a developer of BurnOut say (literaly) "We're not doing splitscreen. Splitscreen is too much "PS2".
WTF? So you mean, having fun with a couple of friends gaming on the sofa with some beer and snacks was getting old? Playing on your own against people on the net you don't know is "splitscreen evolved"?
I f'ckn want to play some splitscreen games on my PS3, I f'ckn bought a second controller, but not ONE game I'm interested in features splitscreen anymore. All first person shooters feature online, but no splitscreen, all race games feature online, but no splitscreen. What's next, Singstar without a multiplayer component?
Conclusion: this sucks monkey balls, and don't take this as a fanboy comment, but: the Wii is the only next-gen console in this respect. PS3 (and I would guess 360) are last-last-last gen (you know, SNES era) because they don't even feauture f'ckn multiplayer, something that was there on every f'ckn N64 game!
BAH!
Discuss.
