There is no "one" game. Metal Gear Solid 4 didn't propel the PS3 to its current sales position. It got there through a well-rounded library of games and a series of price drops/remodels. Its perceived value changed over the course of the generation. As far as games that could boost sales, Call of Duty might help. Sony needs to convince the general market that the Vita has a good amount of value. This means price drops, lots of AAA titles, and plenty of extra features. One game will never achieve all of that.

Would it describe it as 'THE game' though..  it boosted the sales of PS3 in Japan alone to 77K,  (while it was an achievement that it did 10k a week), the game also was the reason that the PS3 could outsell the X360 in NA for a month; and the people who thought (hoped) that the PS3 would be an total disaster dissapeared...Also finally the first game that was exclusive and could manage an +90score?

I'm not arguing it didn't provide a temporary boost. The question is whether or not MGS4 served as a major catalyst for a sustained boost in PS3 sales. Did the PS3 benefit more from MGS4 or a combination of price drops, new models, and a steady supply of hit games? The PS3 used to consistently get outsold by the Wii in Japan 7:1, but now it outperforms Nintendo's system week after week. MGS4 released about 4 years ago. Again, not saying that a major title can't help sales. Just that if the Vita does see a sustained rise in sales, it will be due to a combination of other factors.
