Y'see I'm fine with the ending. I'm not saying it's great or anything but it is what it is and plot holes abound in most fiction (it abounds in a lot of "factual" history too. So plot holes don;t really make it a particular fictional attrocity.

I also have no problem with the concept of culling as part of ensuring long term environmental sustainability. So I don't see any inherent inconsistency with the motiviations.

People having melt downs about the ending as is are taking things much too far.

Still it'll be interesting to see what embellishments they make to the ending.
