Why Wii U gives Nintendo an advantage over Sony: It is bundled with the console, and thus 3rd party devs will be happy to make games using it.
Look at cross-over connectivity things. Even in the case of the GC (Only Nintendo core gamers owned one) - GBA (everyone owned one) developers still didn't want to use it for fear that it would eliminate some of the audience.
