I would like to get some web development experience under my belt but not sure where to start. I do know XHTML/CSS and the basics of Dreamweaver. I am going to make my own personal site to use as a work reference. My question is this: is it better to hand-code a website or use software such as Dreamweaver to development it? Or does it depend on the site? Also, other than XHTML/CSS what are some other languages/tools to know for web design? And lastly, what exactly is MySQL and what is the difference between a scripting language vs any other language?
