The prospects of what next-gen can offer is really exciting. The Uncharted series has shown us a peak of what will be possible next-gen. But am I sick of this gen? No, not yet. I've seen the limitations that current hardware produces, but I'm able to live with that for now. Dark Souls is one of my favorite games this generation and it was hardly a technical powerhouse. That proves that we (or at least "I") don't need uber-level graphics and big spectacular in-game events to enjoy the experience.

I more feel that I've missed out on some key genres this generation. Where were all the RPG games? What about horror? It feels like there has been something missing this generation in the game selection compared to last-gen. There have been some fantastic games, but I don't see things improving much on the variety front leaping into next-gen. We won't see much in the way of new games in the less popular genres and might even see a complete absence of them. I'm really afraid for the latter as there was a big lapse in this generation already.

The bottom line: Next-gen will offer improved experiences for the games we have now, but at the cost of almost complete absence of existing genres.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!
