I always found this odd, if your at home, why not just play your console?? THe only time i use my portables at home is if there is a game im really into and i cant get enough (KH:BBS), but i guess if you dont go nowhere where you would have time to play it, thats understandable |
I personally find handheld gaming to be just as satisfying as consoles, if not more, due to the flexibility offered with handhelds. I don't have to stay in a fixed room when playing my PSP / DS. I could go to the bathroom, living room, dining room etc without interrupting my game.
Handheld gaming can even be more confortable than consoles IMO. I could play a handheld much longer than a console due to the fact that I don't need to face one direction sitting in the same spot. I can stand up, lay down, roll over, walk around, get in the bed, etc without any interruption. The ability to play on the go is just a bonus. It's not my primary function.
Also, I know a lot of people who say handhelds are incapable of offering experiences as rich/deep as consoles. While this is true most of the time, there are plenty of handheld games out there that offer experiences as deep as consoles. People just need to find the right games.
Also, TV's tend to burn my eyes out faster than handhelds. Put it this way: If the Vita had every game the PS3 had with proper controls, I would play the Vita more because of the reasons already mentioned. The only advantage consoles have imo is power. And power stops mattering to me when I'm immersed in a game with excellent gameplay.
