Me and my bro used to LOVE Castlevania as kids. We beat Castlevania II, first (it was actually pretty easy). Then, we went back and beat Castlevania I. Then, when Castlevania III came out, we got every ending except the "Trevor by himself" ending.
So, to answer your question: I don't remember at all. I don't even remember there being a second difficulty.
