1.I agree that they wouldn't run as they where made for the HD twins. It was more an example of types of games that could hae worked well if built from ground up with the controls. 2.I also agree that I am in the minority. This is where I think Nintendo failed. They should have convinced (marketed whatever you want to call it) the users that there is a benefit to the Wii Remote over dual analogs, other then meaningless fun. 3. And as you well know, humans are a creature of comfort. Once they get comfortable they hate change. Those who are willing to try something would have found that the Wii Remote (when well executed) actually works quite well. 4 Look at a work environment, when there is a change in technology (or software)everyone hates it, but if the company supports people through the process and outlines the benefits of the changes people are willing to follow their company leaders and embrace change rather then become disconnected observers and hope they never have to use the new product. Example at my work is sharepoint. They implmented it TOTALLY wrong nad people jsut don't use it. I have worked in other companies where it is implemented well and it becomes your breead and butter for doucment archiving and sharing. |
1. Should said that from the beginning i agree with you, it just baffles when i see people to this day say why there was no GTA4 on Wii. Only an idiot would believe that game could run on Wii. IMHO, it doesnt bother me or most other people because they have another gaming machine with a lot of those types of games, yes they are not motion controlled, but they would still have advantages over the Wii version anyway, which i will get to.
2. THe problem with this is, what should they have made?? Lets be real here there are very few genres that would have really benefitted from the Wiimote and Ninty doesnt make those. They dont make FPSs, (the closest to that was MP3 and that didnt exactly set the world on fire), they dont make 3rd person shooters...thats really it. Some sports games benefit like Tennis and Gold but surprise, Ninty did make those for some strange reason. And they were too busy marketing the meaningless fun.
3. Thats just it though it wasnt well executed at all, even to this day IMHO. Those first batch of Wii games that didnt involve dancing or fitness, were terrible. Red Steel was terrible, that Far Cry port was terrible. Yes i know your gonna throw RE4 and Godfather and even Bully(i like that game), but the problem is old ports of games that most people have played already are not going to convince anyone. What the Wii needed was a lot less cash in ports and alot more ORIGINAL games (they could have been in familiar franchises) that didnt suck. Which brings me to my point I was alluding to. people dont care about the controls, if the game sucks. Thats whay happened with the WIi a good chunk of those games (FPS mostly) sucked. Conduit was mediocore as hell, despite the good controls. GE complete opposite, i love that game because it is a good game, period. Eurocom wasnt worried about nailing the controls, trust me (thank god for custom cause the default is bad) and what happened, one game sold well the other flopped guess which one? People care about features and performance, if they didnt the WIi versions of COD would be the best selling ones.
4. Again it wasnt implemented well, the fact that we even needed a motion+ seals it for me. THere simply wasnt not benefit for alot of genres when it came to wiimote.
