I hardly notice it too anymore. VATS kills in fallout 3/NV, just hurry up, I don't care. Bullet cam camera's, just leave it for the cut scenes. Since you kill between 500 and 1500 people nowadays per game, any shock effect has long gone. The rag doll physics can sometimes still amuse me when it does weird things. No need for blood and guts for that.
The question is does it still help games sell more then it gets in the way? My dad watched me playing Max Payne 3 for a bit and he was appalled by it. No interest in giving it a try. At what point are you turning more of your audience away instead of attracting it with gratuitous violence.
