I didn't know he lost his girl and was worried about that.

When you learn that somebody you know (even just a bit) who is chronically depressed gets into serious money trouble you tend to worry and one of these worries is that they will lose the support of someone they love.

If she quit on him because he is in trouble and doesn't want to stick with him then I hope he gives up on her because she isn't worth it and he should use his time to get himself out of trouble. With a bit of luck he might even find a girl that sticks with him despite him already being in trouble.

If she quit on him because he is in trouble but wasn't working to get himself out of trouble then he should work on getting himself out of trouble before trying to win her back as it should be his priority and it would be easier to win her back of he is showing his commitment to improving his life.

In either case he should work on getting his life together first, using the possibility of getting her back if he sorts himself out as a spur to do so.

And my apologies to AoA if he thinks I am talking ill of his (ex)girl. She might be a bad one or a good one but I do not have enough info to judge her, only you do. I just hope you will make the right judgement call on her character.

Good luck AoA. You have our moral support.

PS: make a prioritized and detailed list of all your problem and look at which you can solve first (especially at the top of the list) even if just partially and work on getting that list shorter. That way you have a clearer goal towards which to work.
