People get tired of them and they are not condusive to a long term playstyle. In the end people always go back to the standard m&k or controller input because it provides freedom, whereas "gimmicks" are limited to what they can do which is less. Look no further than the Pro controller. The wiiU controller itself is fine. The functionality, however, still needs to evolve. And gimmick-o was his name-o

what are you actually trying to say about the pro controller?

That nintendo is offering it because it is a traditional controller without any motion control, touch screen, laser pointer, toaster, or camera. I was trying to say that nintendo has to offer it because a large chunk of gamers don't want all this unnecessary stuff, they just want to game unimpeded by motions or actions that can easily and more effectively be done by a button press. And because of this, nintendo has 3 completely different types of controllers you have to buy for the wiiU.

sorry if the words got sort of jumbled.

I agree with you there somewhat. I really think the main reason Nintendo are bringing it out because all these devs (that IGN surveyed) said they had no idea what to do with the tablet and multiplatform support and that any game to go on WiiU would have to be designed for WiiU only.

If all devs embraced the WiiU and we saw all these other annoucements supporting the WiiU gamepad, then I think there be no need for the classic pro.

I think this as well as the press down analoge sticks is something 3rd party suggested to Nintendo.
