I went ahead and voted for SNES vs. Genesis;
Like others here I remember when this was a big deal, and todays market battles seem tame in comparrison.
The main thing was that each console took a different take in technologies so you could get very different results in the quality of the games in a side by side comparison, rather than what amounts to a more trivial debate nowdays.
Take Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II for example, Depending on which console you had, essentially led to getting a different version of the game. Third party support was paramount in all aspects, and we can see that whichever side you were on, SNES won. Genesis Does. but did not have Final Fantasy, among other things and that was a big coffin nail.
I will say it is exciting that we have such huge numbers, and a lot going on even to the end of the gen. I mean PS3 is looking likely to beat 360 globally, though not in NA region and 360 could pass the Wii in the U.S.... This is highly unprecedented.
