Microsoft - Xbox 3 - View Post

Fact: Console sales increase each year (normally) for the first 3 years, then start to decline.

Fact: If you release a new console every 3 years to have a console that is always increasing in sales, people will stop buying the console.

Fact: Consoles that don't hit mass market sales levels (probably above 50 million units sold), the console will not last past it's successors release.

Fact: The Xbox died hard and fast starting even before the 360 was actually released, in other words, when the 360 was announced, the Xbox died, and support for it dropped pretty hard and really fast. Not that there was "major" support for it anyway. The GameCube was the same way, though it died after the third year anyway.

Fiction: The Nextbox won't be released next year, when the 7th generation has really just got going.

Fact: If they do, the 3rd party situation will be worse than the Wiis. And THAT is saying something.

PS3: $400

360: $280

Wii: $250

Nextbox: $500

Releasing a console every year to the frustration of everyone: Priceless

There are some things money can't buy, for everything else, there's Microsoft's bank account.
