Hell NO!!!! Why exactly do you want to be raped bu Sony overcharging for a HDD? Also being stuck with their size offerings and speed? I would buch rather have the ability to install any off the shelf HDD of my choosing. This leaves the option of going SSD if I choose to fork over the dough or when they come down in price.

I don't think that's what he meant. Sony is missing out on a possible revenue route wether they went proprietary or not. PlayStation HDD would still sell, especially if they had some sort of edge. Since HDD is open it will stay open, though I suppose on a new model it could change. Sony should just sell external HDD/SSD so gamers can pick them up at their local game store.

I see what you're saying but I have to go with the new guy. I dont see how Sony could really benefit from making their own HDD for PS3, its too late in game for one. What can they possibly do to intice people to but the SOny one?? Its an HDD, what extra could they do for it. if they sell it for cheaper than whats on the market will they even make money on them??? I doubt it. How does it benefit the gamer?? Very few people care whether it says Toshiba on the thing, Sony or Mattel as long as it works.
I just updated my HDD, got a bigger one and ill tell you first hand its a pain in the ass. 3 years worth of content having to transfer all of it. and in not even going to get into what you have to do if you have "locked" files. But its still better than the other two, the HDDs are cheap where MS is raping cause they can and Ninty doesnt even have that option.

I'm not saying you have to buy theirs or that it would replace existing hard drives, it's just easier for the casual person who doesn't know what hard drive to hunt down that will work for their Playstation. I bet you some people don't even know it's possible to change their PS3 hard drive. How many people that bought anything 120GB or lower will really be able to enjoy PS+ to it's fullest? I bought a 250GB and I'm maxed right now. If Sony wants PS+ to take off, which after this E3 it really seems like they do, then I don't know why they would skip out on all this potential.

This is true, i had issues getting a compatible one myself. THe only thing i could figure is Sony might believe their audience might be more knowledgable about these kinds of things or they just dont have the resources to do so right now.
