You do realize you're doing the "NINTENDO R 4 KIDDIEZ!@!!!LOL" thing, right? And that's a tired, obnoxious old argument that ate itself years ago? Teenagers tend to be the ones more concerned with appearing cool, and they're the ones who end up buying games for big explosions.

I am not LOL-ing at all, I am trying to be objective. What console would you buy for youngher kids? Aren't kids allowed to have a console of preference?

I love SMW and Mario64 myself as well, but to what age group do you think Mario, Pikachu, NintendoDogs, Kirby, etc appeal to the most?

-also, "deep storytelling" in games is laughable. You just implied that Indiana Jones had deep storytelling...

The stories were well thought out and scripted, good entertainment value. Of course it wasn't a documentary style movie.

I think Mario and Kirby appeall to all ages, and if Pokemon and NintenDogs (learn the names of the games you're having an opinion on...), appeal primarily to children, then Metroid and Zelda appeal primarily to adults.  And stop and look at the third party games that have been succesful - Guitar Hero III, RE4: Wii and Red Steel, and, even by your standards for what appeals to adults, you have to admit that it doesn't support your theory.
