There will be no Nintendo price drop untill 2009. They jsut don't have teh systems. If they do a $50 price drop and sell 20 million consoles in the second half that is 1 Billion dollars they are giving up. No way.
Maybe there will be systems on the shelves and demand will slacken after next Chrismas but remember people are still paying $129 for the ds and I don't think we will see a proce drop on that this year.
But you were takign about MS. I guess the arcade costs aroudn $220 and the pro $250. They are happy to be making money for a change so I am guessing when they drop the price it will be $20-$50 more than the cost of the system. So I expect $249/$299/$369 for the 3 SKUs.
The PS3 has had the advantage(or liablility ) of the Blu-Ray drive for minimizing costs. That itself was half of the costof the PS3 and represents much of the saving they have had so far. Also Sony is very practiced n this process from the last two generations. Xbox never saw a redesign. Also last generation the parts were all owned by someone else so they are still treading new ground on that level as well.
So the PS3 and the 360 Pro might hit $199 at the same time.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
