iPad? Since when would either Sony or MS ever make a game on their consoles require the use of an iPad? On PS3/4 the WiiU tablet controller can be replaced by a Vita, and Vita is cheaper than iPad. On 360/720 anything a tablet controller can do Kinect can do, possibly better, Including using voice commands. If a PS3 version required a Vita I would never buy it. Then again I haven't played survival horror for ages, and I think I'm gonna prefer The Last of Us over a ported ZombieU, with or without compulsory Vita useage. If it's a PS4 launch title then I'm unlikely to ever buy it because I'll be getting a PS4 at least 2 years after PS4 launches, possibly longer. So only way I'll ever get this game is if I Wii U, which is unlikely because I hate Mario with a passion (almost as much as I hate Mickey Mouse) and never want him in my house. In all other respects Nintendo is great. |
I was talking about Smart Glass, which was mentioned in the article as a possible tool to get the Wii U playstyle over to Xbox360. Smart glass is supposed to work with any Win8, iOS or Android device, so I used iPad as an example. However, I don't think the kind of streaming and interaction that is done between Wii U console and Pad can be replicated that easily with just an App. Also, I fail to see how Kinect can help you "See through" your Tablet Device to scope enemies on the screen. Also, right now, Kinect is just a heck of an expensive microphone for core gamers, microsoft still needs to prove that all the features of Kinect can be integrated into a widely accepted core game.
While the Vita has the screen and the buttons to resemble the U Pad, it is still to be determined if this kind of communication between ps3 and vita is even possible. People seem to forget that the U pad is not just a second screen and a basic input device.
ZombiU is just tailormade for the Wii U and they would have to make sacrifices to port this game to another plattform. So I believe the Wii U version will be the most complete and organic experience out of any possible port and will also have the lowest price point of entry, so if it isn't successful on Wii U, I doubt it will be anywhere else. Cue the "but all the people already have the xbox+kinect+smartphone/tablet + vita + ps3" arguments.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
