And by the time the Wii U comes out there will be more people with an Xbox 360 and any of the devices that Smart Glass supports than the Wii U will sell in its 1st year. So what should developers target? |
It's tough to say man. You certainly have a point, but it all comes down to how the WiiU performs in its first year. If it is anywhere near as widely accepted as the Wii, then the whole irrelevance factor will not hold any truth to it. I would think developers will wait and see market demand to decide which platform to better support. If this softglass concept moves on to the next Xbox (which it probably would), then it has more relevance. There are too many factors up in the air to really decide on which will become irrelevant. Both have their arguments.
The WiiU is a whole package, so developers know if they do something for it it will be used as intended. The Xbox is relying on customers purchasing other products (which granted have widely penetrated the market), so developers may find a risk to that. Again, the opposing argument is there are more 360s and phones/tablets in the market now as you said in your last post. We'll see. It is certainly interesting though to watch the battle unfold.
