At least one, actually, since the DS Lite released in Japan 15 months after the original model. The DS had also been through 2 Holiday seasons at this point in its life compared to the 3DS's 1. And the 3DS is tracking ahead of DS in both hardware AND software. FAR ahead in hardware, in fact, without a redesign.
