I was wondering what BEDMAS was. I was taught PEMDAS ( Parentheses , Exponentials, Multiply/Divide, Add/Subtract)

() - Parentheses to us Americans, but brackets to Brits.  

[] - Brackets AKA square brackets

{} - I call them braces:  I'm not sure what's standard terminology in Britain, and for that matter, I'm not sure I'm even using the American-standard term. 

I call them curly brackets, but whether that occurs in the rest of Britain I don't know. <[¦-{>      (ooh I made a Father Christmas with closed eyes)
