Why is X360 selling worse than the original Xbox?

As an owner of the original Xbox, I can tell you that the Xbox 360 was much needed. Microsoft can now start off on a good foot with hardware they actually have the rights for and can now ride through a 5 or possible even 6 year lifecyle like Sony.
