"With time, though, I've learnt to appreciate them. I'm not a trophy whore or anything, but when there are no new games that I'm interested in I pop one of my favourites in and go for the trophies, simply because it extends the life of games I like. However, I will never put getting trophies above playing new games, and I don't care for competing about who's got more or anything."

I follow a similar philosophy, but only if they are implemented well. For instance, If I don't have any new games & I notice that I have a few remaining trophies in a game, I'll check them out and see if they're fun. If it's something like "Collect all of the Blast Shards" then I'm like fuck that! I didn't buy this game to check the internet for random items, then scour the city looking for them.

But If they are something fun like "Complete mission 7 without being seen by any enemies & without killing any innocents", then I'll try it out. In these cases, I usually have some fun accomplishing a fun goal that I would have necessarily done without trophies.

Like others have said, it serves as a nice archive for the games you've completed. And you feel truly accomplished when you've 100%ed a game.
