Yes, if you do a degree with:

- a specific job or field in mind
- that job isn't incredibly competitive (acting, dancing, presenting)
- the degree actually prepares you for the job. (not media studies)
- the degree is from an institution with enough respect in the field to mean something (Engineering degree with sub-A-level maths demanded is not acceptable)

A general good indicator is in the region of 20 contact hours a week including lectures, tutorials and labs (for science).
