Because a government that gave up on the Kyoto protocol, that banished the firearms registry, who wants to reopen the debates on abortion and who lied to the population on the price of military jets is much better?

ppl of quebec care about the environment, they dont want guns in our streets, they dont want to go back into the 50s when it comes to women's rights and most of them are usualy against going to wars (depending on the context offcaurse). This shows how ppl of Quebec have nothing in common with ppl of other provinces like lets say Alberta for example, and I didnt even mention the differences when it comes to language and culture.

Banished the firearms registry?  More like just the long-gun registry, which is a complete waste of money anyways as well as ineffective, and really just punishes law-abiding citizens.

Kyoto protocol was also a waste; didn't mater whether we were in it or not, considering even when we were in it, we were no where close to the goals (under a liberal administration let me remind you ;) ).

Wanting abortions to not be public funding =/= setting women's rights back 50 years.  Harper's even said, we've got to change people's hearts, not the law.  He's also said he has no interest in bringing abortion or the death penalty back.

Yes the military jets are an issue, but they were an issue back in Chretien's years, people are only whining about it now because it's a different gov't.

Let's honestly face it, Quebec wouldn't be able to survive seperation, and even if they did, they would just leach off the rest of Canada anyways, before finally coming back (there's a reason why the Bloc got shattered last election).  Hell to my knowledge, Alberta has more people who want to seperate than Quebec, and has probably less in common with the rest of Canada than Quebec does, plus actually has a lot more potential to survive.

Don't get me wrong, Harper has disappointed me on so many levels, however to say these are problems now is really just ignorant.

Sorry about that, I had to respond to this, now back to the original topic...

I have been keeping up with the news on this strike and both sides to a certain degree piss me off.

I have do have some sympathy for the protestors, but at the same time, what I payed for my tuition in one year, could essentially pay what they pay for their entire degree.  So by raising tuition slightly over a period of time where they would still end up having the lowest tuition in Canada, plus the States still pay way more anyways.  Also by blocking classes/roads, that's infringing  on other people's rights, and when classes/semesters get cancelled because of this, that's just unfair.

That being said, I'm not fond of how Jean Charest has handled this issue, especially considering he's tried to make it a student vs tax payer thing.  He's also recently (from what I've read, someone can fill me in more) at least try to make it law that if students want to protest, they need to get permission from the police, which I think is ludicrous (of course unless they block routes like the highway).
