I disagree strongly with those sentiments, Mass Effect just isn't the type of game the core PS3 gamers are willing to give a chance. Just like old school type gameplay games always sell better on the PS3 because the Americans don't want to play anything that isn't a shooter.
Personal opinion counts for nothing here those be the facts, and the analysis of sales for these types of games prove my point.
To say Mass Effect suffered badly in sales because the first one wasn't on the PS3 is simply guesswork and conjecture. Of course it suffered somewhat that goes without saying but not to the degree implied by many.

Welcome to speculation chartz where isf it sounds reasonable people spout it out as truth. We are all professional analysts here who deserve Pachter's job. One thing is clear almost all games that were historically involved more closely with MS still sell better with MS than Sony even when going multiplat. This might be different because not everyone knows who bungie is and it will involve a new IP and publisher.
Also this core ps3 player loves the MAss effect series.

There is trending data to show that PS3 fans buy less games that are like Mass Effect in terms of genre (both shooter and WRPG), nationality of developer, image of developer and so on. Mass Effect has everything against it.
Bearing in mind it's Bungie we're talking about in this case the results could be even worse.....gulp.
There, I've finished speculizationalizing. :p
