I agree with Heavenly_King and d21lewis
The reviews don't really determine whether you would enjoy the game on personal level because what we enjoy varies. Going by the genre/theme and gameplay videos is a good way to gauge how much you might like a game. Best option is to try a demo if one is available although sometimes demos are very poor compared to actual game or demo's are far better than actual game.
Most recently, I played Unit 13 (PS-Vita) which got 7/10 type reviews, but I really enjoyed it. Easily an 8/10 game for me which is good enough for my gaming time. I liked the short replayable missions (36), the motivation to replay those missions trying to get 5-star ranks, and to try those same missions in co-op which works at all hours of the day in terms of some random person quickly joining your hosted game if you cant coordinate friends to play - plus those random players are all mature and good partners as the game awards teamwork bonuses. Furthermore, each "operative" would level up and gain access to more weapons and perks including team bonuses so there is some reward and also motivation for trying out the different characters and play styles regardless of mission type (covert, action, deadline, etc). Lastly the game had Near functionality to share Intel to be able to gain access to HVT missions. I got 160+ stars via the single player to take on 8/9 HVT missions, but without the Near feature, I would not have gotten 180 stars needed to take on SCORPION. So this was a great feature where someone else on my friend list having done that mission successfully allowed me to also do it. So it has a ton of features and great gameplay for a launch title. I only expect things to get better on PS-Vita as is the norm with any new console.
