Is Assassin's Creed II boring or does it just start off slow?

I kind of liked the story, which now became such a cluster fuck. I also like the wholy mythology behind it as well, there is a pretty bad cliffhanger at the end of this second one I think. Also the way it improved drastically on the first one, it was literally one of those games that saw a massive leap between the first and second iterations. I also liked the combat on it, climbing can get tedious sometimes and fucking ezio jumps of his own accord half the time, but the views + sometimes rewarding combat were worth it for me.
