I always had a Yeah!!!-Meh!?-Ugh!! relationship with Bee Gees/Robin Gibb music.

I can best express what I mean when I categorize some of their many world hits according to my taste:

Songs I absolutely LOVE written by Robin Gibb and his brothers (Robin was the main songwriter though):
If I Can't Have You (my favorite version is the one performed by Yvonne Ellimann: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4VTz7gSHds )
Staying Alive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKdVq_vNAAI&feature=related
Night Fever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FECFb1_YdII
You Should Be Dancing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JoZS6LgqYI&feature=related
How Deep Is Your Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBMriOspUvA&feature=related (In 1977 a #1 hit for The Bee Gees in USA and other countries, 19 years later a # 1 hit in UK and other countries for the Take That cover http://www.myvideo.de/watch/657706/Take_That_How_Deep_Is_Your_Love )
More Than a Woman (Bee Gees version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQPBk0RD8d0&feature=related, but I very much prefer Tavares' brilliant version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qodB4ZseqdE )
Like millions of other people around the world I owned the vinyl version of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. One of the best (and most successful) SONG soundtracks ever created, probably even the best.
Great post-Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees songs (and of course all huge hits):
Tragedy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPcsMMEMbfw
Love You Inside Out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DutKgcfJpYA&feature=related
Too Much Heaven: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/5634275/Bee_Gees_Too_Much_Heaven

Okay songs written by the Brothers Gibb, I don't really like them but definitely don't hate them:
Jive Talking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVjITlgqlHo
Emotion (for Samantha Sang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mkTg1Cyun4 , much later covered by Destiny's Child: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2d27r_destiny-s-child-emotion_music )
Chain Reaction (for Diana Ross): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwCfotiJSZA
Heartbreaker (for Dionne Warwick): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfzUhro9dHs

Hate songs:
Massachusetts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XWYefe9EzI
Islands in the Stream (for Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQW7I62TNOw
Guilty & Woman in Love (shitty song & schmaltzy shitty song, both worldwide hits written for a great singer with sometimes very questionnable taste): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4f6a2_barbra-streisand-bee-gees-barry-gib_music , http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1ys7l_barbara-streisand-woman-in-love_music
Juliet (Robin's solo hit from 1983 which haunted my dreams; I swear it was on every damn radio station every damn day for years, I hate it with a passion): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3k3y7dykx0
You Win Again (the brothers united in the worst shape possible. I probably hate this song - their last worldwide hit - even more than "Juliet"...if that's even possible): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1x8qy_bee-gees-you-win-again_music

R.I.P. Mister Gibb. You wrote some brilliant pop & disco songs in the 70s. Give our regards to your co-writer and late brother Maurice.
