In a prior post, I had asked why to get a 3DS or Vita instead of a tablet.  My list of wants seemed to make it clear a tablet would be best though, but I posted to see if I was wrong.  It consisted of lugging PDFs with my game rules around, Web access for info and YouTube (and a few games).  Maybe some game development thrown in.  So, I sprung for a sub $100 tablet at Toys R Us.  Thing isn't perfect, but does the job.  I can use my DSi stylis with it also.  So, all and all I am happy on the whole.  Is it top of the line?  No it isn't.  The model is pretty mediocre, but I am happy for my limited use.  Still will look to get a 3DS/Vita sometime, but now they wait.

I can't seem to find the prior post, so I posted a new one here.

Which one did you get and are you techie enough to root and rom that bastard?

If so, you could probably slap Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on it and have a device that is comparable to anything on the market, speaking strictly from an OS point of view. You'll still have lower quality screen/touch/other hardware based features. But, software wise, you'll have everything you could possibly want.

Check out xda-forums or rootzwiki for your model.

There is a Sylvania model they have on clearance at Toys R Us for $90 now, until early June.  It has a 7" screen.  it does what I need.  I could muck with it if I wanted, but it is working now, so I will just have it do the basics for me.   I could look to throw more memory in it, and get it a maybe a cover.  But now, best to not muck with it.   Again, it does the job, so I am set.  Sometimes, best to just let things be.  It is said that as people get older they are less up for change.  You begin to realize not all change is good, and you can make things worse.
