Its not the monetary loss that matters so much... but the fact that the franchise will probably never return. They couldve done so much with it and used Sweet Tooth as a mascot (like Drake and Kratos).
More than anything, I think this game came out at the WRONG time. It shouldve been a launch title, or close to launch.
