The problem with pie in the sky wishes like this is that console gamers don't want to pay for it, even if they insist that they do (most won't when they see the price tag) and neither MS nor Sony want to subsidize another hardware platform for consumers by discounting retail units hundreds off the production cost per unit.

If Epic really wants to design a game engine that requires hundreds of dollars worth of GPU, then they should just stick to developing games for PCs with bleeding edge, top of the line VGA cards. But naturally, they don't want to try and develop, much less sell a game engine that runs on less than 1% of all PCs in circulation.

They really can't expect MS or Sony to effectively pay for those high end GPUs if they are to sell the next gen of consoles at prices consumers are realistically willing to pay.
