If Epic wants to put their money where their mouth is and help fund this monstrosity of a console that they have in mind (not to mention that 95% of games for it would barely push the hardware), then they can be my guest.

Until they have to deal with the reality of power vs cost, especially in such a volatile global economy that we're currently in, they can "actively lobby" all they want, because it's not going to change a thing.

And regarding the Wii U... would anyone really be disappointed if the majority of games for it looked "ONLY" as good as the latest current gen titles like Uncharted 3 or Battlefield 3?

Wrong. They convinced Microsoft to make the 360 more powerful. I belive with some Gears of War tech demo or something? In addition to the exclusive trilogy.

If Epic convinces Microsoft to make the 720 more powerful, so will Sony. I can guarantee you that both of these consoles will at least be able to run Unreal Engine 4.

It's already too late for Wii U. GPU/CPU was probably decided on a year ago.

Oh? Care to share your details on the Wii U's GPU and CPU?

You seem like someone in the know from this statement.

sound more like he read the OP.

Epic Games going on record saying “the platforms we designed ‘Unreal Engine 4’ for have not been announced yet”

the wii U goes on sale this year.  the hardware is probably already in production so they can have the million or so consoles required to launch a system so it's specs are locked down now.

@nightdragon - yes, very much yes.  i would be very much disappointed to get a new system that "ONLY" plays at the same level i've been played for the last 6 years.
