Well, given the angst the "true" fans have shown about how ME3 ends, you might save yourself some emotional trauma if you just go with doing the motion comic and starting at ME2.
I have ME2 and 3 for PS3, and while I get the occasional twinge of wanting to play ME I don't feel like I've missed out on all that much.
Yes there are people who think ME is kinda mediocre, especially against ME2. But there are others who feel ME is the only true RPG of the series.
If I wasn't such a trohpy whore I probably woulda got the whole ME series for PC. In that respect I'm a bit disappointed that Bioware / EA decided to put ME2 and 3 on PS3, because it tempted me away from getting the game on its original platform.
