Depends on time, at the time of Intel Core2Duo I would probably buy that one, it's so well made that my friend can still use it today and run many newer games without big problems (yeah Crisis might be problem but it's a water drop in whole sea) However today I would buy AMD Phenom or something similar from AMD brand because of few things: - They can be easier overclocked (not that I need it now)
Both of them can be easily overclocked. Buy an unlocked model, go into BIOS, change multiplier. - They have a bit lower start power than INTEL counterpart but overall structure works way faster Uhh what. Power consumption definitely favours Intel, but if you mean pricing then I guess AMD is sometimes cheaper at the low end but not at anything you'd buy for gaming performance on a desktop. - They nicely work together with their GPUs (Radeons I mean) They work exactly the same as Intel with both AMD and Nvidia GPUs. There is no tie. - Great compatibility, I can put same CPU into few diffrent CPU-Slots without problems, they will still work fine Trinity's slot is incompatible with Llano. All AM2+ and most AM3 motherboards won't work with Bulldozer. Bulldozer's replacement won't work in AM3 and I don't know whether it will work in AM3+ boards. - Better price For very specific models, notably low end laptops with good-enough graphics. And low end servers. Otherwise no. - Less temperature (at winter I had 18-20 C degrees) Temperature is a function of cooling more than architecture. If you mean power then no, Intel is better on most tests.
The last one is somewhat negative at the same time, I can't warm my hands when they will be cold xD

I like AMD but lying about their positives is not helping.
