well... i'm not interested in watching movies on my pc. and i don't want to hook it up to my hdtv. i won't be downloading movies unless it's the only option

Not only that, but until HD downloads don't take days and aren't only rentals, blu-ray will be around. That will take years. I'm all for having all of my movies on the internet waiting to be streamed, but I want HD content on my HDTV, and that can't be stored online with easy accesibility yet. Blu-ray is already here and looks great. Not to mention it doesn't scratch so it will last a long time.
