Gamer_of_the_Year said: I say that for a myriad of reasons. 1) It's Naughty Dog's FIRST Rated M game. Groundbreaking, can't wait to see what they do with the limitless range. 2) It's a HORROR game. Which means the horror can be taken to the FULL EXTENT and NOT HOLD BACK. Which is a GREAT THING. 3) It means the themes and motifs are going to be EXTEMELY mature. And I for one have adored the mature experiences Sony has giving me this Gen ala Heavy Rain. This game is going to be brilliant. Without a doubt. |
1) Still don't see what the big deal is. You seem to imply that a developer is somehow restrained when their game is rated less than M, but that is not the case.
2) Yeah, it's a horror game. Which makes me wonder why people seem surprised it wound up being rated M. That's practically a given.
3) The ESRB doesn't rate games by their "themes." It's pretty clear just from the couple of trailers we've seen that the rating is due to language, violence, and likely frightening or disturbing images, courtesy of being a horror game. Likewise, mature themes are not exclusively found in M-rated games.
4) Yes, it's going to be brilliant. It's Naughty Dog, after all. :P
