To be honest, Skyrim has been experiencing a lot of criticism like CoD. I can't go to a youtube video featuring rpg games without seeing people lambasting on the non-existent combat.
Taste are subjective, there isn't an inherent sense of superiority or self-satisfaction. You're better off surrounding yourself with people who share the same interests. There are elitists in almost any entertainment medium and it usually boils down to who is willing to go the extra mile to look for hidden gems.
Do not allow yourself to be blinded by fear and anger. Everything is only as it is.
