On that topic, a friend of mine theorised that if time is linear and unchangeable (ie if it were possible to go back in time, you would be unable to change anything) there is only one reason to travel outside your normal timeline, and that is in order to have sex with yourself... as such he designed a working time machine: A mirror with a hole in it.
